Built at accost of Rs.264 million under World Bank funds, it can store 10,000 tons of grains. The storage facility will benefit more than 1000 farmers and paddy, green gram, cowpea, soya and peanuts can be stored.  

This storage facility will help to store the excess grain and this is the third storage facility. When farmers bring in their grain harvest, the manager of the warehouse complex, having determined the quantity and quality of the stock, will issue a receipt, which can be furnished to any state bank and 50 percent of the value of the stock can be obtained as an advance,” Already there are two storage facilities in Buttala and Galenbindunuwewa. Such storage facilities will also be built in Kilinochchi and Embilipitiya and the government has already allocated Rs.600 million.

If there are not enough storage facilities it affects the excess harvest. These storage facilities are being opened in districts which enjoy an excess harvest.  

In addition the government has suggested to establish silo storage facilities as well.  There will be a concessionary loan scheme for interested medium sized rice millers with a capacity of 50 metric tons per day and the amount allocated for this project is Rs 400 million.
