Navy installs a RO plant in Kayts

    April 17, 2017

Sri Lanka Navy opened an RO plant recently installed at St. Mary’s Church in Kayts yesterday (16th April).

Bishop of Jaffna, Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Bernard Gnanapragasam participating in the opening ceremony highly appreciated this noble effort which is being implemented by the Navy throughout the country in view of saving the poor communities from the deadly renal disease. Further, he extended his gratitude to the Commander of the Navy for addressing this long felt need at the St. Mary’s Church in Kayts.

The Research and Development Unit of the Sri Lanka Navy, making use of their technological know-how, managed to produce and install this facility at the church premises within a short time span of two days. The financial provision for the facility was made through the Naval Social Responsibility Fund. The compartment in which the facility is housed had been built by the naval engineers and the whole project was closely supervised by the Commander Northern Naval Area.

The Navy had installed a total of 191 RO systems in different parts of the country thus far, facilitating 90,646 families and 70,200 school children with safe drinking water.
