The government plans to open the Thabbowa tourism Zone in Puttlam next year said State Minister for Irrigation and Water Resources Management Palitha Range Bandara.
The tourism zone will be created centering the Thabbowa reservoir and the Thabbowa Sanctuary while the Neelabamma environmental zone will also be included.
At a meeting held in Anamaduwa recently, it was revealed that Thabbowa cultivation colonies and the surroundings will also be developed in parallel to the tourism zone. It will also provide facilities for studying of whales and also to conduct environmental investigations.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
