    Fifth Oman Air Golf Classic to attract golfers from Sri Lanka

    The annual Oman Air Golf Classic 2014 is set to tee off for the fifth consecutive year at the world-class Victoria Golf and Country Resort in Kandy, on 4 - 5 October 2014. This year’s tournament will see the participation of over 100 golfers from Sri Lanka, Australia and the Middle East. The announcement was made at a recent Oman Air press conference which was attended by Gihan Karunaratne, Country Manager – Sri Lanka & Maldives, Oman Air, Neroy Marso – General Manager, Victoria Golf & Country Club and Dhanushika Medagoda – Manager Golf Marketing & Events, Victoria Golf & Country Club.

    Last year, Andrew Udeshi walked away with the coveted title of Overall Winner and Martin Miller secured second place. This year the winner will receive a grand prize voucher worth Rs 100,000/- from Oman Air. The golfers are set to compete for the titles of Overall Winner, Runner-Up, Gross Winner, Nearest to the Pin and Longest Driver in both the ladies and gents categories.

     

    Commenting on the tournament, Gihan Karunaratne, Country Manager – Sri Lanka & Maldives, Oman Air, said, “This annual event has become a fixture with our customers who enjoy playing the game competitively. This year the prize list has been enhanced giving the players an added incentive to compete at their highest level. We are pleased to say the Oman Air Golf Classic is becoming a highly anticipated event both here and internationally. Whilst we are committed to popularising the sport in the region, this event will also serve as a platform to showcase Sri Lanka as a premier golf destination.”

     

    The Victoria Golf and Country Resort is a 6945 yard par 73 course that is surrounded on three sides by the bountiful Victoria reservoir and the majestic Knuckles mountain range.
