National Elders’ Flag Month began today (11th July) and will be held until 10th August.
The first flags symbolizing this month-long program will be pinned on President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today at the Presidential Secretariat.
According to the Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare and Kandyan Heritage S.B. Dissanayake, an income of Rs. 6 million is expected from the sale of flags this year. Last year it was Rs. 5 million.
The Government official news portal is maintains by the New Media Unit of the Department of Government Information and it was titled "news.lk" and commenced in mid1996 and release to Internet from March 01st, 1997.
