    Let’s celebrate unity in diversity at Kegalle today

    Arrangements are in place conduct ‘Let’s celebrate unity in diversity’ programme organized by the Kegalle District Secretariat from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm today (17).

    Today’s programme is one of the many organized with the assistance of the Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration to mark the National Integration Week being held from July 14 to July 20 by the District Secretariat of Kegalle.

     

    Kegalle District Secretary Thusitha P Wanigasinghe said that large number of school children and government officials were expected to attend today’s event of which the objectives were to increase awareness on religious practices and rituals observed in places of worship belonging to different faiths and religions. Children would be encouraged to participate in religious observances and they would be explained of the practical and cultural value of those rituals. Programmes of this nature would promote ethnic harmony and help children to understand the value of respecting and celebrating the unity in diversity, Mr. Wanigasinghe added.
