Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development has taken steps to implement a joint mosquito prevention program in fisheries harbor premises in parallel to the national Dengue prevention program.
Accordingly, the program, organized by the Ceylon Fisheries Harbours Corporation was commenced at 20 fisheries harbors today on the instructions of Minister Mahinda Amaraweera.
An awareness program for fishermen and their families on keeping the fisheries harbours free from mosquitoes was also held.
In addition, 181 abandoned vessels were also destroyed recently.
