    Residential Training Programme on Leadership Qualities on Sept.7

    'The 4th stage of the training programme on development of Leadership Qualities and Positive Thinking will commence on 7th of September this year’ Minister of Higher Education, S.B.Dissanayake announced.

    The programme consist three stages which are going to commence consecutively from September 7th to Sep.27, Oct. 04th to Oct 24th, Oct.30th to Nov.21st.

     

    23500 students will be accommodated for the entire programme comprising 7500 for the 1st stage, 8000 for the 2nd and 8000 students for the 3rd stage. Minister stated.

     

    Ministry of Higher Education, University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Defense are conducting this programme in selected Army, Navy, Air Force and Police base camps as training centers to build Leadership Qualities and positive thinking within University students who have been selected for the University entrance this year.

     

    This residential training programme will be conducted for a period of three weeks and the government will provide board and lodging, the Hand Book pertaining to the course, two valuable books named, ‘Nutrition Book, University Ragging’, Two T-Shirts, Two track bottoms and a cap required for physical training free of cost.

     

    The students who are having special difficulties and illnesses such as heart and kidney ailment, other serious illnesses or suffering from a communicable diseases or disabilities can avoid from the programme with the permission by providing valid information. If those students are willing to participate for the training, should inform to the respective training centre. Arrangements have been made for the relevant training centre to provide the medical facilities required by the students.

     

    Subjects such as the Future Vision of Sri Lanka and Global Changes, Formulation of a Strategic Life Plan and reaching long term objectives, Physical Exercises, First Aid, Leadership Qualities and Leadership, Conflict Management, Psychology, Sexual Harassment, Legal Environment, Social Traditions, Hostel Manners, Nourishment, Personal Hygiene and Beauty Culture will include the course.

     

    Qualified resource persons will conduct these lectures. We believe that this training programme will be a very valuable contribution to make University Students future life meaningful and also will provide the necessary background to become a responsible citizen with positive attitudes which enable them to become a citizen with leadership qualities, Minister Dissanayake further stated.
