The first Kumbal Perahera of the historic Kandy Esala procession commenced touring the streets on August 01 at the auspicious time of 7.50 p.m. A large crowd including First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa watched the Perahera.

In parallel to the Perahera, the Bakthi Geetha recital titled “Bathi Gee Saraniya” sung by children of the Carlton Pre School  toured the streets before the commencement of the Perahera.

Japan's Liberal Democratic Party Vice President Masahiko Komura,  Madam Komura together with a Japanese delegation, Sri Lankan Ambassador in Japan Wasantha Karannagoda, Parlimentarian Kamala Ranatunga too were present.(KH)
