BOI’s role in signing the MoU would be to support BTMU and collaborate with the Bank on Seminars for Japanese Companies in relation to FDI opportunities in Sri Lanka. BOI also has a role to inform BTMU of prospective projects in Sri Lanka so that the bank can communicate there opportunities to Japanese Companies. BTMU can also have with State Banks or organisations which are involved in this work area. Another important role is that BOI will work closely with BTMU to attract industrial investments from Japan to Sri Lanka.
BTMU has an important role to support the BOI when it holds seminars for Japanese Companies to attract FDI in Sri Lanka and to help with setting up one-to-one meetings for BOI with potential companies from the BTMU client base.
BTMU while introducing Japanese investors to prospective projects in Sri Lanka, including business meetings between the two countries will provide Japanese Companies potential investors with information relating to BTMU’s business activities in Sri Lanka.
The Signatories of the Agreement were Dr. Lakshman Jayaweera, Chairman of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and Mr. Go Watanabe, Managing Executive Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd for Asia and Oceania.
The Signing ceremony also included short speeches by Dr Lakshman Jayaweers, BOI Chairman, Mr Go Watanabe, Managing Executive Officer and the CEO of Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd for Asia Oceania, Nobuhito Hobo, Ambassador of Japan and Hon. Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana, Minister of Investment Promotion.(KH/SI)
