    October 17, 2014

The Colombo Bloemendhal “Sirisanda Sevana” New Housing Scheme will be vested in the public Friday (17) evening making a reality of the programme of moulding a country devoid of slums.

A significant programme is in place to build a Sri Lanka sans slum dwellings within the next two years through the Mahinda Chinthana Vision for the Future.

The country has entered a prosperous era effecting a development revolution under the leadership of the President and the able guidance and total supervision of Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

All arrangements are in place for the opening of the “Sirisanda Sevana” Housing Complex newly constructed at Bloemendhal under this programme under the patronage of President Rajapaksa. Low income families are being provided permanent houses with streamlined facilities in the areas where they now reside.

Twenty thousand housing units are under construction at 26 locations within the City of Colombo based on the Mahinda Chinthana concept that every family should own a house. Several housing schemes have so far been vested in the public.
