A large number of students study at the Sri Lanka Institute of Higher Technology due to the higher demand in the international market for students who study technology.

Accordingly, construction work has commenced on 30 gostels since September 2013 under the first phase of the " Expeditious project of constructing 60 Hostels" and it has been scheduled to complete and handover these 30 hostels to respective universities before the end of this year.

Preliminary activities of 14 hostels out of the 30 such as reservation of the premises, cleaning and removing of non productive old buildings have already commenced under the second phase.
