In this regard the Ministry has been implementing many development initiatives including handicrafts village development programme, production village programme , enterprise village programme, women entrepreneurship development programme, pottery village development programme, palmyrah livelihood development programme and kithul development programme covering all regions.
The Ministry has also been working closely with the Ministry of Economic Development in implementing the Divi Neguma Cottage Industry programme, island wide.
Moreover, under the Industrial Development Board there are 18 Small and Medium Industrial Estates with over 300 enterprises and under the industrial estate modernization programme the infrastructure development initiatives have been undertaken in the industrial estates to strengthen the Small and Medium Industries.
