According to Mahinda Chinthana - Vision for the Future,  the ocean is an invaluable resource that begets a very special place in the country’s economy. The fisher folk should ensure that their children are given a good education and the wormen in particular should manage the family income, said the Minister.  Saving for the children's future is of paramount importance and we have taken action to launch several programmes which were beneficial to the fishing community through the fishing conference, the Minister added.

Fisheries Ministry Secretary D.M.R.B.Dissanayake and Director General of Fisheries Nimal Hettiarachchi   were present.
