Cultural Affairs State Minister Nandimithra Ekanayake made these remarks when he made an inspection tour to Sigiriya - Rock Fortress of Sri Lankasituated in Matale district near Dambulla, due to several incidents of sabotage that had taken place recently.

According to Sigiriya Security Division officials, local and foreign tourists have tried to scribble on the Mirror Wall on several occasions.

Minister Ekanayake gave directions to all officials and archeologists attached to the Ministry and the Department to take all measures to preserve Sigiriya which is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site
