SLFP prevents politicos from expressing personal opinions to media

    March 03, 2015

The Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)  has decided  to join together with the political parties currently in the alliance and obtain a majority at the next General Election.

In a statement issued today, SLFP General Secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa has called upon all SLFPers to give their active support for this programme. The former Minister  alleged that certain regressive forces are now attempting to weaken that process. The release further stated that the task of the SLFPers should be to work as an alliance together with the regressive forces rather than paving way for these forces to gain power.

The SLFP Central Committee  has also decided to prohibit people’s representatives of the party from participating in public rallies organized by other political parties, without approval from the party.

The central committee has further decided to prevent the people’s representatives of the party from acting on their own accord and making statements to the media.  The former Minister Yapa stated that the decision was taken in view of the harm caused to the policies of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, through the personal opinions expressed by people’s representatives to various media.

The former Minister has also pointed out that measures have been taken for all people's representatives of the SLFP to participate in press conferences organized by the party.
