It was organized fulfilling an SoS call from the Vavuniya Base Hospital Blood Bank which has run short of blood required by the patients waiting to undergo urgent surgeries.

More than 250 soldiers of Brigades and Battalions under the 56 Division with civilians living around the camp premises donated blood in the campaign organized on the directions of Brigadier D .M W. W. W .M. R .B .M Daulagala , Officiating General Officer Commanding, 56 Division.

Dr.G M T R Bandara, Dr. R M P P Rajapaksha and staff at the Vavuniya Hospital Blood Bank also assisted to make the blood donation campaign a success.
