    State Mechanism taken doorsteps of the People through Village to Village, Home to Home Programme Featured

    Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa  stated that  the President has arrange for the state mechanism to be taken to the  doorsteps of the rural community under the implementation process of Village to Village, Home to Home  National Programme.


    Minister Rajapaksa further explained that the present Government has taken action to increase the strength of state employees from Six Hundred thousand to One Million, three hundred thousand in order to strengthen the public service and  this programme  will ensure mobilization of their skills and desire to serve the people.


    This was stated by the Minister of Economic Development, Basil Rajapaksa  addressing two meetings held on the 26th. May at Wellawaya and Bibile in the Monaragala district to create awareness among the Peoples' Representatives and the public officers  at electorate level with regard to  319 Rural Mobile Services proposed to be conducted  to find solutions to the problems  encountered by the people in Monaragala district.


    These two meetings were held in Mahinda Rajapaksa Hall in Wellawaya and Vijith Vijithamuni Soyza Cultural Hall in Bibile and were attended by Peoples' Representatives, State Officials and Community leaders in Divisional Secretary Divisions of Wellawaya, Thanamalwila, Kataragama, Buttala, Sevanagala, Bibila, Medagama and Madulla.


    Commencing from next June, 886 mobile services will be conducted in Badulla and Monaragala Districts in the Uva Province and 10 awareness programmes at electorate level for the benefit of peoples' representatives and state officialas were conducted under aegis of Minister of Economic Development, Basil Rajapaksa  during the period from 24th. to 26th. May in 10 electorates.  Peoples' Representatives, state officials and community leaders numbering over18,000, representing 26 Divisional Secretary Divisions in Uva Province attended these awareness meetings.


    Two more awareness meetings are to be held on the 07th. of June in Monaragala and Viyaluwa electorates.  The majority of the population of  Uva Province exceeding 1.2 million are to be benefitted from these mobile services.


    A total number of 448,142 people in 132,370 families live in 11 Divisional Secretary Divisions in the Monaragala district. Minister of Economic Development, Basil Rajapaksa stressed the importance of  integrated deliberations of the Peoples' Representatives and the state officials which is the novel development access of the government  in handling  the identification, prioritization, planning, implementation of community requirements and taking follow up action . Problems surpassing at mobile services will be categorized under two categories, viz. personal and public.


    The Minister of Economic Development, addressing the awareness meetings, further stated "In order to identify and find solutions to the problems encountered by the people,  2731  rural mobile services  and 28 Mobile services at electorate level were conducted  during the period from 1st. of July to December, in the districts of Kegalle, Kurunegala and Puttalam  and the President has advised to conduct similar mobile services Island wide  in view of the success achieved in   mobile services in those three districts.  Solutions  were found to 62% of the problems encountered at these three mobile services."

     
    Peoples' Representatives including Ministers Jagath Pushpakumara and Vijith Vijithamuni Soyza, Chief Minister Sashindra Rajapakasa, Vijith Berugoda, Membere of Parliament and Mr.A. Pathmanathan, District Secretary and a host of state officials including Additional Secretaries of the Ministry, Ms. Priyantha Mayadunne and Shantha Bandara were among the large gathering on these occasions.
