    India offers scholarships to children of Sri Lanka estate workers

    The Government of India has announced the award of scholarships to the children of Sri Lanka's Indian-origin estate workers.

    The High Commission of India has invited applications from the children of estate workers, who are residents of estates, for award of scholarships by the Ceylon Estate Workers Education Trust (CEWET).

     

    The scholarships are available for G.C.E. Advanced Level, Undergraduate courses and for students undergoing Vocational/ Technical education in any of the Government Technical colleges.

     

    Students who have passed G.C.E Ordinary or Advanced Level examination with either Mathematics or Arithmetic at the G.C.E. 'O' Level examination and below 25 years of age are eligible to apply.

     

    The completed application forms must be accompanied by photocopies of birth certificate, result sheet of GCE OL or AL level, latest salary slip of parents and Estate Superintendents certificate regarding Parent s occupation.

     

    Application forms are available at the High Commission of India, 36-38, Galle Road, Colombo-03 and at the Assistant High Commission of India, No.31, Rajaphilla Mawatha, Kandy.

     

    Duly completed forms should reach the Honorary Secretary, CEWET c/o High Commission of India, P.O. Box 882, Colombo-03, on or before 30th Sept, 2015.
