The main purpose of constructing this dam is to overcome the flood threat encountered by many villages in the Thamankaduwa Divisional Secretariat Division. The length of the security dam will be 850 metres. It will protect around 800 acres of paddy land that is being destroyed by floods. The Polonnaruwa Disaster Management Unit will be providing the required financial grant for the project.

 

 

Polonnaruwa District Secretary S. Senanayake and Regional Irrigation Director R.G. Jayasinghe were present at the launch of the construction work.
