The National Child Protection Authority has decided to conduct an island-wide Essay Writing Competition to mark the International Day Against Child Labour, falling on 12th June, 2015. Children from Grade 09 up to Grade 13 are invited to participate in this competition. Junior Section: From Grade 09 up to Grade 11 Topic: Lets us get rid of child labour, make available a quality education (Not more than 1000 words) Senior Section: From Grade 11 up to Grade 13 Topic: Lets us get rid of child labour, make available a quality education (Not more than 1500 words) The Essay Competition will be conducted in all three Sinhala, Tamil and English languages. Participants should send their essays either by registered post or by hand, addressed to the Chairperson, National Child Protection Authority, No.330, Thalawathugoda Road, Madiwala, Sri Jayewardenepura, before 20th May, 2015. The essay, in one's own handwriting should be certified by the Principle of the school as a creation by the applicant by placing his official seal. The essay should be sent along with a short application containing applicant's name, address, date of birth, residence telephone number or that of a guardian and the school attending. That also should be certified by the Principal of the school. Top left side of the cover containing the Essay should be marked with the competition section, language medium and the district. NCPA informs that an applicant can only submit one essay. Applicants who do not fulfill these conditions will be removed from the competition. The Winners will be selected in two stages as district and all island basis and presentation of prizes, medals and certificates to all island winners will be held on 08.06.2015 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Colombo during the Commemoration Day Programme. District winners will be awarded their certificates at district level. The decision of the Panel of Judges with regard to this competition shall be the final.
