The rain is reducing but monsoonal showers and windy condition will continue over south-western part of the island, Met. Department said. Within the past 21 hours fairly heavy showers were reported from Sabaragamuwa province. (Rathnapura meteorological station received fairly heavy rainfall 68.2 mm), it said. Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-western provinces. Heavy falls (about 100 mm) can be expected at some places. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere in the afternoon (especially in the Eastern and Uva provinces). Fairly strong winds (up to 50-60kmph) can be expected at times over the island. These winds can be strengthened during showers. Public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
