It said that troops of the Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) and the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) had also been engaged in repairing work of the affected Meetotamulla Sri Rahula Vidyalaya. Further the Engineer troops of the army had also provided their technical expertise to measure water levels in the site with a view of observing any further developments.

A special operation room has also been established to coordinate relief operations at the location under the direction of Major General Ralf Nugera and Major General Dananjith Karunaratne.
