He is a supra grade officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service and counts 27 years of experience.

He said that his main aim is to create an environment to take the governments industry policy forward while paying attention to improve the industries coming under his ministry and ensuring that the public gets the essential goods without a shortage.

 
He is an old boy of Hanwella Madya Maha Vidyalaya and a graduate of the Colombo University.
