    Petrol price up

    The price of petrol 92 Octane has been increased by Rs. 3 per litter with effect from last night. However, the prices of other fuel varities which are subject to revision as per the fuel price formula will remain unchanged, a release issued by the Ministry of Finance said yesterday.

    The revised price of petrol 92 Octane at CPC outlets will be Rs. 138. According to a Finance Ministry statement, fuel prices in the local market were not increased from March to provide relief to the consumers during the festive season. “Fuel prices tend to show a decline these days. If this tendency persists further, steps will be taken to grant the benefits of the fuel price decline in the world market,” the release said.
    Meanwhile, Lanka IOC yesterday increased the price of 92 Octane Petrol by Rs.7 per litre with effect from yesterday. According to a released by LIOC Senior Vice President Pramod Jain, there is no increase in the price of Lanka Auto Diesel and Super Diesel (Euro 4) “The prices of Petrol and Diesel have further gone up significantly in the international market in the recent months, but the selling prices of Diesel have not been revised despite absorbing huge losses," the statement added.
