    Temple Trees ready for Poson spiritual programme Featured

    At Temple Trees a programme of spiritual activities would be held on June 14 in view of the Poson celebrations on the directives of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. Convening a media briefing at Temple Trees yesterday, the National Organiser of the United National Bikkhu Front Ven. Ambanwela Gnanaloka Thera said the spiritual programme would be held from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm at Temple Trees with the participation of around 2,500 school children and teachers.

    O/L and A/L students from around 25 schools including Royal College,Colombo, Ananda Vidyalaya, Mahanama Vidyalaya, Nalanda Vidyalaya, D.S.Senanayake Vidyalaya, Isipathana Vidyalaya, Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Ashoka Vidyalaya, Mahinda Rajapaksa Vidyalaya, Thurstan College, Lumbini, President’s College, Vishaka Vidyalaya, St. Pauls Balika Vidyalaya, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Anula Vidyalaya, Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Presbyterian College, Ratnawali Balika Vidyalaya and Yashodara Balika are expected to participate in the religious observances.
    The programme is jointly organised by the Prime Minister’s Office, the Education Ministry and the Buddhasasana Ministry. On June 16, Poson Poya Day, two special Dansals would be held opposite the Temple Trees main gate. “In addition, the Prime Minister will initiate an insurance scheme for all Buddhist monks at Temple Trees on June 26. Insurance certificates would be handed over to around 2,000 Buddhist monks by the Prime Minister,” Ven. Ambanwela Gnanaloka Thera said.
