He said one committee would be appointed to monitor the print media while the other committee would monitor the electronic media. He said this during the meeting held between
the Election Commission Chairman and the heads of the electronic media at the Election Commission Auditorium today.

The members of these committees would include representatives of the print and electronic media, the Government News Director and an official from the Telecommunication
Regulatory Commission (TRC).

 These committees are required to operate under the regulations and advise of the Election Commission and based on the recommendations of the committees the Election
Commission would take appropriate decisions, Mahinda Deshapriya said.

The Election Commission Chairman said that these committees would look into the complaints received regarding the wrong information published by the media and they would
also monitor the media to ensure that they follow the required media guidelines.
