Accordingly, the Election Commission announced that deposits and nominations would be accepted on March 17th and 18th during office hours and on the 19th from 8.30 am to 12.00 noon.
After the nominations and objections are concluded on the 19th the Election Commission would issue the election notice under the Parliament Elections Act (No. 1 of 1981) paragraph 24(1).
The Election Commission issuing a notice also stated that all Returning Officers and Deputy Election Commissioners have been notified to accept postal voting applications until midnight on March 17th as the 16th has been declared a public holiday.
