    Navy conducts sterilization of Trincomalee railway station

    In an attempt to prevent the spread of the COVID – 19 in the country, the Sri Lanka Navy engaged in disinfecting the Trincomalee railway station on 18th March 2020.

    In the backdrop where the novel coronavirus has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, the government has taken several steps to control the spread of the disease. Accordingly, under the directives and guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Siva, a group of naval personnel of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear response team had been engaged in disinfecting the main railway station of Trincomalee and all the railway compartments, in an attempt to curtail the further spread of the disease as the number of COVID-19 positive cases has increased at an alarming rate.

    The Navy is geared up to take every possible action to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus and is on full alert at all times.
