Therefore,  the curfew imposed on those districts will continue until further notice. Health authorities have observed that a large number of people gathering near shops to purchase goods when the curfew implemented in three districts was lifted this morning (24), which is a serious obstacle for the control of the spread of the virus.

Therefore the government has instructed wholesale trading companies to sell essential consumer goods by home delivery method to consumers.

Accordingly, Sathosa, Keells, LAUGFS, Arpico, Cargills Food City, Araliya, Nipuna and other wholesale companies are to be involved in this task, the release said.
 
Meanwhile, a task force headed by Basil Rajapaksa has been established in order to efficiently carry out the operations of trading essential consumer goods at the homes of the consumers.

The rest of the task force is comprised of Ministerial Secretaries, Government Agents, Divisional Secretaries and other relevant officials.

Due to the risk of the Coronavirus spreading during the times the curfew is lifted,  the curfew in the districts identified as high-risk zones will be in effect until further notice, the PMD said.

Hence, the government has implemented a system of uninterrupted supply of essential consumer goods including food items, medicine and LP gas to the general public which will be implemented from tomorrow (25).

It further said that all delivery vehicles used to distribute goods including lorries, vans, three-wheelers and motorcycles will be allowed to travel along roads during the curfew period.
