Pharmacies to remain open during curfew

    March 25, 2020

Due to the ongoing island-wide curfew, imposed by the government with the aim of preventing the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19), a large number of patients who obtain prescribed medicines from hospitals and pharmacies are facing a dilemma.

Taking this into consideration, the Ministry of Health has decided to keep all pharmacies in the island open during curfew hours. Accordingly, the Ministry has given the relevant instructions to the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) to allow pharmacies to remain open during curfew hours and the patients prescription could be used as a curfew pass.

In addition, the Health Ministry has requested the Acting IGP to grant permission for movement of pharmacy workers and vehicles transporting medicines while the curfew is in force.
