    COVID 19 Health and Social Security Fund receives more deposits

    The Covid-19 Health and Social Security Fund has recorded a balance of over Rs. 242 million by the direct deposits of private donors and various companies.

    This fund was established by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on March 23rd. With the direct deposits of Rs. 9.5 million made to the bank and the donation made by the Presidential Secretariat for Rs. 500,000, by 8.00 am today the fund had Rs. 145 million collected.

    The People’s Bank Financial Management Accounts Department had donated Rs. 10 million, the Bank of Ceylon Retired persons Association donated Rs. 3 million, People’s Leasing, Litro Gas Lanka Ltd, Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation and Bank of Ceylon donated Rs. 5 million each, National Savings Bank donated Rs. 8 million and Akbar Brothers donated Rs. 50 million bringing the fund collections to Rs. 242 million.

    Anyone, including from overseas could deposit their donations to this fund established at the Bank of Ceylon Account Number 85737373 Covid-19 Health and Social Security Fund. All donations to this fund would be exempted from all taxes and foreign exchange regulations. Anyone could deposit funds to this account through cheques or telegraphs as well.
