    Parliament to convene for five days from April 5 to April 09

    The Committee on Parliamentary Business which met March (25) under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena decided to convene
    Parliament for five days from the 5th to the 9th of April.


    According to the decision, Parliament will convene on Monday, April 05 as a special day from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm and the entire time will be set aside for the oral questions of the MPs, the Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake said.

    Mr. Dasanayake further said that the motion to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee to make recommendations to amend the electoral system will also be
    tabled in Parliament on the same day.
    He also said that the Committee on Parliamentary Business had decided to hold the Adjournment Debate on the Report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday attack for the fifth day on the 7th of April.
    In addition, the Committee has decided to debate the final report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Political Victimization on April 08 and 09.
    On April 6, eight subjects will be debated, including regulations under the Imports and Exports Act, orders under the Strategic Development Projects Act and the resolution on the Revision of Salary and Allowances of the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

    The debate will be held on that day from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm and then the Motion at the Adjournment Time will be taken up for debate from 04.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
    The adjournment debate on the Report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday attack will be held on April 7 from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. The Parliament will convene on April 08 and 09 from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm, the Secretary General said.
