Ambassador Dharshana Perera who joined the Sri Lanka Foreign Service in 1996 carries a service record of almost 25 years. He served in several capacities at the Foreign Ministry’s Publicity, South Asia & SAARC, Middle East, European Affairs Divisions etc. His diplomatic assignments were at Sri Lanka Missions in Washington DC, Permanent Mission to the UN in New York, Embassies in Bangkok, Moscow, Rome and Jakarta.

Prior to his assignment in Stockholm, he served as the Director General, North America at the Foreign Ministry. His preceding overseas assignment was as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Indonesia and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the ASEAN.
