    The Government will not allow any individual directly or indirectly involved in Easter attack to escape justice – Minister Sarath Weerasekara

    Minister of Public Security, Rear Admiral (Retd.) Sarath Weerasekara affirmed that the current Government is taking necessary action to bring the perpetrators of the Easter Sunday Attack to justice and many individuals propagating extremism have either been detained or imprisoned at the moment.

    The Minister remarked this at the special media briefing held yesterday (06) at the Department of Government Information.

    The Minister further added that more than 75 individuals who were involved in the Easter attack, as well as those who funded extremism and propagated extremist ideologies, are being interrogated on detention orders and 211 are in remand custody including 32 individuals involved in the Easter attack.

    Responding to a question raised by a journalist, Minister Sarath Weerasekara affirmed that the masterminds behind the Easter Attack bombing have been identified.

    Commenting further he said that 54 individuals involved in extremism have been arrested in foreign countries and so far about 50 of them have been brought back to Sri Lanka.
