    Parliament to convene for 4 days from tomorrow

    It was decided at the Committee on Parliamentary Business held today (19) under the patronage of the Hon. Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to hold sittings of
    Parliament from tomorrow (20) to the 23rd from 10.00 am to 5.30 pm.


    The final report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate and Inquire into and obtain information in relation to alleged political victimizations of Public Officers, Employees of Public Corporations, and Members of Armed Forces and Police Service, who were holding posts during the period commencing from 08th January 2015 and ending on 16th November 2019 will be debated in the House on April 22 and 23 as an adjournment motion.


    On these two days, adornment motion will be taken up for the debate from 10.00 am to 5.30 pm without setting aside time for questions for oral answers of the MPs, said the Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake.

    Meanwhile, five regulations under the Foreign Exchange Act, two regulations under the Excise Ordinance and regulations under the Imports and Exports Act are due to be debated tomorrow (20).

    On that day from 10.00 am to 11.00 am the time will be set aside for the questions for the oral answers of the Members of Parliament.

    In addition, 20 minutes have been set aside from 4.30 pm for two adjournment questions to be moved by the Opposition. Thereafter, debate at the adornment time on the Kotte Urban Boundary Area by the Colombo District MP representing the ruling party Madura Vithanage will be held from 4.50 pm to 5.30 pm On April 21, the gazette notification issued by Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa on doping in sports in line with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will be debated.

    In addition, 20 minutes have been set aside from 4.30 pm to 4.50 pm for two adjournment questions and the motion to be moved by the Opposition will be taken up for debate from 4.50 pm to 5.30 pm.
