The Director General has issued written instructions to all Residential Business Managers in the ten Mahaweli Zones to take immediate action in accordance with the provisions of the State Lands (Recovery of Possession) Act (No. 7 of 1979) to prevent unauthorized land acquisition in the Mahaweli Zones.

Mr. Kotagama further said that he had received complaints regarding the illegal acquisition of lands in the Mahaweli Zones and had already issued instructions to all Residential Business Managers, Divisional Managers and Unit Managers in the Mahaweli Zones to take necessary action in this regard.

The Director General has further instructed the Mahaweli Residential Business Managers to report to him every two weeks on the action taken against illegal land acquisitions in the Mahaweli Zones.
