    The government of Japan donates 500 vaccine carriers (Cold Box) to strengthen the Covid-19 vaccination program

    With the hope of strengthening Sri Lanka's Covid-19 vaccination program, the Japanese Government in coordination with UNICEF has donated 500 Medical Portable Freeze free vaccine carriers (Cold Box) worth over Rs.5 million to the Health Ministry last Saturday (01).

    Minister of Health, Pavithra Wanniarachchi received the vaccine carriers from Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka Sugiyama Akira at the UNICEF office.

    Under the second phase of this, 750 Medical Portable Freeze free vaccine carriers (Cold Box) will be provided in the future.

    Addressing the event, Minister Wanniarachchi stated, "receiving the first consignments of vaccine carriers further strengthen the Covid-19 vaccination program in the country and as the Minister of Health, I am thankful to the Government of Japan for provisioning these items. Sri Lanka and Japan have maintained a long-term relationship and we know that you never hesitate to support our country. I also extend my gratitude to UNICEF for coordinating the delivery of these items".

    UNICEF Sri Lanka Representative Emma Brigham, ‎Chief of Communication UNICEF Bismarck Swangin and Ministry of Health Additional Secretary (Public Health Services) Dr. T.L.C. Somatunga were also present at this occasion.
