Certain groups that oppose the vaccination have been sharing such wrong posts on social media. The Professor reiterated that the only solution to the pandemic is proper vaccination in time.

Professor Weerasinghe was speaking at a media briefing held at the Department of Government Information Sept(27).

Many elders who did not receive the vaccine died of the disease, and subsequently, the situation encouraged their counterparts to receive the jab fearlessly, he said. Professor Weerasinghe further said that there is a risk of increasing the percentage of the deaths among those who refuse the vaccine in the future.

He said that the full immunization develops in the human body one month after the second dose of the vaccine, and it would reduce the number of deaths related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
WHO has recommended 08 brands of anti-COVID-19 vaccines, and only such fully recommended vaccines are used in Sri Lanka, Professor Manju Weerasinghe said.
