    Central Bank Governor leads the Sri Lanka delegation to the State of Qatar

    Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal led the Sri Lanka delegation to the State of Qatar from 20-22 October 2021.

    The delegation met with the Governor of the Central Bank of Qatar, Sheikh Abdulla Bin Saoud Al-Thani and carried forward the discussion on the collaboration between the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the Central Bank of the State of Qatar (QCB) and the post – Covid revival measures. They also reviewed the ways and means to strengthen the economic ties between Sri Lanka and Qatar.

     

    In addition to the meeting with the QCB, the Governor and the delegation met with the heads of Qatar National Bank, Doha Bank and the Commercial bank of the state of Qatar and had a productive discussion on developing the bilateral trade and business opportunities in Sri Lanka.

    Governor and the delegation also had a fruitful discussion with Director of LULU Group in Qatar Dr. Mohamed Althaf Musliam Veetil. The discussion focused on the boosting of long-standing trade relations between Lulu Group and Sri Lanka.

     

    The CBSL delegation headed by the Governor also took part at the Investor Forum hosted by Doha Bank titled “Qatar- Sri Lanka Bilateral Opportunities”. The discussion focussed on the new investment opportunities available in multiple economic sectors in both Sri Lanka and Qatar.

     

    The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Doha facilitated the visit and all the arrangements of the Central Bank Governor and the delegation in Doha.

     

    The Sri Lanka delegation led by the Governor of the Central Band Ajith Nivard Cabraal included the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank Dhammika Nanayakkara, Superintendent of Public Debt Dr. M.Z.M. Azim, Director Economic Research Development Dr. C. Amarasekara and Senior Assistant Director/Protocol of the Central Bank Nuwan Gamage.
