Following information received by Brigadier Chaminda Wijayarathna, Commander, 211 Brigade on the miserable plight of the widow, Mrs Indrani Somalatha with two daughters, 2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops of the 211 Brigade undertook the responsibility for construction of this house with the financial sponsorship, provided by Dr Ranjani Seneviratne at Colombo General Hospital after the request was projected to the donor.

The Civil Affairs Officer, 211 Brigade, Commanding Officer 2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and Other Ranks attended the cornerstone-laying ceremony.
