    Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry ready to boost cooperation with Sri Lanka’s National Chamber of Exporters

     The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Dhaka organized a webinar with the participation of the National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) in Sri Lanka and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on 27 July, 2022 to discuss avenues of increasing bilateral trade and economic cooperation with enhanced dialogue between the chambers.

    Addressing the webinar, High Commissioner Professor Sudharshan Seneviratne pointed out that this kind of timely initiative would pave the way to increase the bilateral trade volume between the two countries as well as cooperation in other sectors which include investment, tourism, and shipping. The High Commissioner further explained how the corporate sector could positively turn the prevailing economic conditions in Sri Lanka for better benefits.

    Leading the discussion, Secretary General of NCE Shiham Marikkar and Secretary General of DCCI Afsarul Arifeen worked out a plan on identifying potential business opportunities between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Both sides proposed a number of activities to be conducted together with a timeline and follow-up webinar.

    Deputy High Commissioner Ruwanthi Delpitiya and First Secretary (Commercial) Srimali Jayarathna of the High Commission of Sri Lanka participated in the discussion.
