    Fostering goodwill and solidarity through charity: Donation of medical supplies to Sri Lanka from the Philippines

    The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Manila facilitated the donation of five thousand (5,000) units of peritoneal dialysis solutions to Sri Lanka from the Chairman of the Philippines-Sri Lanka Business Council Michael Chen.

    The donation stemmed from the request made by former President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena, to the Chairman of the Philippines-Sri Lanka Business Council during the former's visit to the Philippines for the 2022 International Leadership Conference held on 29-31 July 2022.

    On behalf of the country, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Philippines Shobini Gunasekera extended her warmest appreciation to the Chairman for his commendable act of goodwill towards the country at this critical juncture. She elaborated that the engagement is a manifestation of the dynamic people to people ties founded on bonds of friendship, compassion, and camaraderie between the two nations.

    The medical supplies were produced and shipped from Baxter manufacturing facilities in the Philippines and has arrived in Sri Lanka this month. The shipment aims to address the urgent demand for such supplies for dialysis patients in the country's public health system.
