    Sri Lanka shines at the Asian Village Festival, Singapore

    Sri Lanka participated in the first ever Asian Village Festival of Singapore as an official tourism partner, along with Indonesia and the Philippines. The festival, held from 03 to 06 October at the Singapore Expo was organized by Shaabaz Pte Ltd in Singapore, with the objectives of promoting Asian culture, food, and business under one roof and creating business opportunities and prospects in the Asia region.

    The vibrant event was attended by exhibitors and performers from Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines, displaying their products and talents, and it attracted more than 20,000 visitors.    

    High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore Senarath Dissanayake attended the event as the guest of honour on 03 October. The opening of the event was officiated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by High Commissioner Dissanayake, Founder of Shaabaz Pte Ltd, Abdul Malieq, and other dignitaries. Head of Chancery of the High Commission Ahamed Razee and Minister (Commercial) of the High Commission Yasantha Yaddehi accompanied the High Commissioner to the opening ceremony.

    The High Commission of Sri Lanka arranged a dynamic and eye-catching tourism promotional booth that showcased the country's rich cultural heritage and abundant natural resources. An impressive performance by Sri Lankan traditional dancers immersed the visitors in a sensory experience on the opening day, and attracted a large, enthusiastic crowd. Promotional videos on Sri Lanka tourism were screened on a digital screen at the main stage of the event, and journalists from various YouTube channels and newspapers conducted interviews with the Minister (Commercial), facilitating the promotion of Sri Lanka tourism and culture among Singaporeans.

    The staff of the High Commission interacted and engaged with the visitors during the four-day event, and disseminated information to many prospective travellers, including journalists, individual travellers, tour agents, and students who visited the Sri Lankan booth.
