It is opportune to approve 20A before dissolving Parliament - Malwatte Mahanayake

    June 15, 2015

Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter the Most Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera has said that the time has come to set up a strong Government dissolving Parliament after the adoption of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution. It was his view that some who are working according to the ancient strategies were raising obstructions to effecting changes needed by the country.

The Malwatte Chief Prelate said that Parliament should be dissolved after approving the 20th Amendment to the Constitution. Everyone should get together and form a strong Government.

The Most Ven. Thbbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera made these observations when Leader of the House and Minister Lakshman Kiriella paid a courtesy call on him. The Minister during this meeting secured the blessings of the Malwatte Mahanayake.

Thereafter giving his views to media personnel Minister Lakshman Kiriella said that the no confidence motion that is being brought forward against the Prime Minister is intended to destabilized the Parliamentary proceedings.

The Minister stated that the Mahanayake clearly mentioned that the No Faith Motion against the Prime Minister was an attempt to paralyze the parliamentary proceedings. The prelate also mentioned that the 20 Amendment should be approved and thereafter dissolve Parliament.
