    Ugandan Minister of International Affairs Calls on President Rajapaksa Featured

    Uganda’s Minister of State for International Affairs  Okello Oryem called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees this evening.


    The Minister who has had an opportunity to visit the Northern Province described to the President his  impressions of the development that is taking place.

    “In a short period, what you have done is a remarkable thing,” Oryem told the President, describing how Uganda has faced similar challenges. “We know exactly what you’re going through.”

    The Minister also thanked the President for his visit to Uganda and also the First Lady Shiranthi Wickremasinghe Rajapaksa for her visit to the country in January of this year.

    President Rajapaksa said his visit to the African nation had been both productive and enjoyable, while also discussing the importance of strengthening South-South cooperation.

    During the First Lady’s visit, Madam Rajapaksa laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Masulita Vocational Training Institute, which is expected to be completed within this year. The First Lady also inspected a medical camp conducted by a Sri Lankan team for children in Masulita.

    The Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris, Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Mrs. Kshenuka Senewiratne and Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner in Uganda V. Kananathan were also present. (KH/SI)
