Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa at a ceremony at Temple Trees on Wednesday (04) handed over a donation of books for the Poson Dansela to Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena.

Education Minister Bandula Gunawardene, Defence and Urban Development Ministry Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Education Ministry Secretary Anura Dissanayake, Commissioner of Educational Publications Tissa Hewavithane, Chief of Defence Staff General Jagath Jayasuriya, the three Service Chiefs and the IGP were also present during the ceremony.

The Education Ministry has made arrangements for the schools to handover  reading books, children's story books, past papers etc. that are in schools for the book dansela.

The Education Ministry expects to get the cooperation of all School children, teachers and parents for this meritorious act.  Also the assistance of the Cultural Department, Sri Lanka Examinations Department, National Institute of Education, all science colleges, Education Ministry staff and all staff of  provincial zonal education offices for the book dansela.

Donors can hand over books to national schools and Provincial and Zonal Education offices and to the Education Ministry Publication Bureau before June 6.
