Eighteen (18) athletes out of twenty nine (29) who participated in the Commonwealth Weightlifting Tournament – 2015 succeeded in winning medals.

A significant achievement was winning of three gold medals, two silver medals and four metal medals by the athletes of Polonnaruwa.

The President who had cordial discussions with the athletes assured to provide them a fully equipped sports centre, required sports tools and adequate funds to provide nutrition for the athletes.

Chief Minister of North – Central Province Peshala Jayarathne also participated in this event.
