He said that it has been found that funds allocated for construction of houses as well as to grant housing loans have been used to print diaries and calendars, violating financial regulations and tender procedures.  But they have not been distributed and have disappeared.

Minister Premadasa said  apart from internal and external investigations there will also be an investigation by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division in this regard.

He further emphasised that printing of diaries have been halted this year and action has been taken to utilize every single cent on housing projects.
