    President meets religious leaders to discuss Geneva Proposals Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena held a special discussion with religious leaders of all faiths to discuss Geneva Proposals and its challenges, at the Presidential Secretariat Thursday (29).

    President apprised thereligious leaders regarding the ideas expressed by the representatives of political parties during the all-party meeting held under the patronage of President Sirisena.

     

    The President proposed to set upcommitteerepresenting allreligions to overcome the existing challenges and agreed toset up an All Religious Committeecomprising 25 members.

     

    The religious leadersexpressed theirblessing for the initiatives taken by the President and the government to build the national and religious reconciliation in the country and said that it is an exemplary initiative to the whole world.

     

    The President further said that as a government all must unite toface the challenges and all future development plans for the country should implement consideringthese complexities.

     

    “As we find speedy solutions to current issues it is must to find program to ensure long term national reconciliation in the country,” the President added.

     

    Dr. Ittapana Dhammalankara Nayake Maha Thera,Bangala Upathissa Thero, Venerable Thiniyawala Palitha Thero, Archbishop Dr. Malcolm Ranjith and other religious leaders participated in the discussion.
